I am totally macking on the revival of the backpack. The luxe, adult sling bag is definitely not your daughter’s backpack. You will not find homework and Lunchables in here, though you may find some tamarind roasted almonds, sunglasses, a lipstick and keys to your Beamer because this backpack is strictly for adults. I am totally nutbar (which, by the way, you may also find in your sling bag) for the grown-up version of the pack. Over the last few years, designers have taken a crack at the backpack and given it a major style upgrade. It’s luxe and the new “must have” in bags. It’s been seen on the streets of Europe, carried by working woman everywhere, and also on a number of celebrities. I am particularly coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs over the Elizabeth and James Cynnie Sling. I wouldn’t expect anything less from the fabulous Olsen twins, always so ahead of the fashion curve, to design such a sophisticated handbag-backpack duo. And I do love a good two-fer. It has a drawstring closure, shoulder straps and a purse handle to allow the person to choose how to wear it. I favour it worn as a handbag, but appreciate the ability to sling it over my back, if and when I need to be hands-free. It is perfect for the woman on the go. This sling bag looks gorgeous with a polished silk blouse and pencil skirt, but equally good with jeans and a sweater.
The Cynnie Sling comes in a range of colours, fabrics and patterns. I love the blush pink, but grey, inky blue and black are always great options. The perforated leather and the cowhide are also fun alternatives, and for those that have money to spare, check out the faux fur version.
Start digging through the sofa or pinch from the change jar because this bag doesn’t come cheap. It retails at around $500 USD. That being said, it’s the career gal’s backpack so maybe worth putting some of your hard earned pay towards.
Equally lovely are the Marni, Tory Burch and Cleobella Emerson backpacks.
Congratulations, you have graduated and paid your due diligence, now treat yourself.
