Are you ready for the big reveal? Me neither because someone already leaked photos from the collection earlier this week. Leaked being a relative term. Kind of like the way Paris Hilton’s video was “leaked” to the media. I’m not buying it. I’ll tell you what I will be buying , however, and that is some of the great Balmain for H&M pieces when they land in stores on November 5.
H&M was graced with the good fortune to have Balmain design for them. Or is it Balmain was given the honour to create this season’s capsule collection for H&M? It’s hard to tell these days which is the bigger coup. H&M IS a pretty big deal in the fashion world, and when haute couture meets affordable fashion, let’s just say that’s a match made in Heaven . . . well at least for the common folk.
When I think of Balmain, I think of luxurious, extravagant and lavish couture dressing. Simplicity was not his thing, nor is it for design successor Olivier Rousteing. Sexy, powerful and strong is the way he wants a woman to feel when they put on a Balmain.
Balmain style includes strong details, embroidery, embellishments and adornments, feminine, figure flattering styling with sexy silhouettes, and bold, rich hues. Balmain’s father owned a drapery business, which doesn’t come as a surprise as I can see an influence of heavy brocades used in pieces throughout the eras. And seriously, if it’s good enough for the von Trapp kids, it’s good enough for the rest of us, no?
Balmain is the choice of many a celebrity, in particular the Kardashian Klan. Other fashion loving celebrities that have worn Balmain include, Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Scarlett Johansson, Blake Lively, Alessandra Ambrosio, “Miley Cyrus” and Celine Dion. These ladies are all in a pay bracket that can well afford the real deal, but now you too can take home a piece of the opulence. If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a Balmain, this is your time. Get yourself out to select H&M stores carrying the collection. Fair warning though to get your Black Friday strategy on and line up early because these pieces will be gone faster than you can say Balmain’s your uncle.
